Many people would use their bicycle to go places if they had a more secure place to place their belongings without having to carry a heavy and cumbersome lock. For this reason, many have started leaving locks at locations they frequent such as work, schools, libraries, parks, and even the transit authority stops. This creates an eyesore and creates unnecessary clutter at these locations. A demonstration of this is represented in the following pictures.

Security for bicycles has become a high priority for advocacy minded groups in the recent years. To enhance security and encourage bicycling, storage lockers have become prevalent. In our vicinity, businesses, transit authority park'n'ride locations, and universities have started using these lockers. The problems with these lockers are the enormity of space required to stage them, the eyesore they create, the high cost of acquisition and maintenance, but most especially the limited usage they can create. Only one user can have the key to use a locker, thus eliminating the ability for other patrons to use the space. This is entirely eliminated in our design (unless you opt for individual user programming) and a community use system is available for everyone to experience the advantages of bicycling. The following picture is an example of an eyesore at a local university that has had to resort to bike lockers as a last resort.
